Ryan Miller’s NHL Blog

If you haven’t already, check out Ryan Miller’s Blog over at Maxim. There are some interesting thoughts from the Sabres Goaltender.

The Sabres Skid Continues

Well at least they put in a good effort… That might be the most repeated phrase of the season thus far. Good effort or not the Sabres lost in a shoot out to the New Jersey Devils dropping their record to 0-4-3 in their last seven. Next up a return to Ottawa Thursday night where Jocelyn Thibault will be getting the start in goal.

In other Sabres news Patrick Kaleta has returned to the team and the lineup.

Sabres Updates

The Sabres Six game losing streak continues with a loss to Atlanta.

After their loss to Ottawa on Friday night, the Buffalo News’ Sabres Edge had this tidbit about an emotional Brian Campbell. Yet another reason to like Campbell and yet another reason why an extension needs to get done.

Even though I think every Sabres fan has already read it, Bucky Gleason believes the problems with the team start from the top.  I’ve been reading some of the reaction this morning on various Sabres blogs, I think Heather B. at Top Shelf sums up my thoughts on the situation.

Derek Roy is day to day with a shoulder injury.

Winter Classic Roundup

The Winter Classic was truly classic with a huge turnout and great fan support. While the Sabres dropped the game 2-1 via shootout it was still a day to remember. There has been a barrage of posts in the last day here are some of our favorites:

Sabres Fall to Senators 5-3

The Buffalo Sabres lost to the Ottawa Senators 5-3 Wednesday night at HSBC Arena. The loss halts the Sabres win streak at 6 games. The Senators were led by three second period goals, and had to hold off a Buffalo comeback in the third. After being down 4-1 Buffalo stormed back with consecutive goals, but couldn’t close the gap as Ottawa finished with an empty net goal.

The Sabres face the Devils on Friday night and the Penguins on Saturday night, and will then prepare for the Amp Energy NHL Winter Classic on New Year’s Day.

Sabres Take Both From Flyers in Home and Home Series

The Buffalo Sabres beat the Philadelphia Flyers 3-2 Friday Night, and 6-5 Saturday Night to extend their winning streak to a season-high six games. Both games were played in a playoff-like atmosphere and were an early treat for fans going into the Holiday Weekend.

The Sabres return to action tonight at HSBC Arena  as they take on the Ottawa Senators at 7 PM.

Miller Big in Sabres Win Against Islanders

Ryan Miller stopped 42 of the 43 shots he faced Wednesday, leading the Sabres to a 2-1 lead against the New York Islanders.

Maxim Afinogenov scored with just 2:17 left to play in the third period putting the Sabres on top for good. Derek Roy also scored for the Sabres, netting the game’s first goal in the opening period.

The Sabres did lose two players throughout the course of the game, Derek Roy and Tim Connolly. Roy injured his shoulder later in the first period and was forced to leave, while Connolly was overcome by the flu.

Buffalo has now one four straight games and will look to make it five Friday night against the Philadelphia Flyers, a game highlighted on many calenders due to the return of Martin Biron and Daniel Briere.

Kalinin to play against Islanders, Sekera headed back to Rochester

Dimitri Kalinin is set to return against the New York Islanders this Wednesday, reports Tony Ramos.  To make room for Kalinin the Buffalo Sabres have assigned Andrej Sekera to the Rochester Americans. Sekera has played in 21 games this year for the Sabres, netting one goal and two assists.

The Sabres welcome back Kalinin to their blue-line, as the defenseman had only played eight games prior to his knee-injury which took place on October 24th. The Sabres face the Islanders tomorrow at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum.

Sabres Defeat Blackhawks, Take The Shine Off Kane’s Return To Buffalo
