Bills Begin Search To Fill Positions

The Buffalo News reports that the Bills are officially on the hunt to fill their open front office position and the offensive coordinator role.

Now I am using the “term front office” position instead of GM because there might be some restructuring in the cards and the GM title might not be used ala the Pats, Jags, and Steelers. Along with a title shift there could be some changes in the responsibilities of front office personnel.

A few names have been thrown around as of late including the Bears’ director of college scouting Greg Gabriel who is from Buffalo and scouted for the Bills in the 80s. Rick Mueller, the Saints’ vice president of player personnel, has worked with head coach Dick Jauron before in Jacksonville.

If the Bills stay within the organization John Guy, the Bills’ director of pro personnel could be a candidate to move up, although he has been criticized heavily in the local press as of late especially on WGR for a poor reputation amongst agents and other football people. One story that about Guy that has circulated was when he was contacted by a veteran free agent to see if Buffalo had any interest in him he told the player’s agent that he was only interested in signing veterans. The player in question had been in the league for over 5 years and was considered an established performer.

As for the offensive coordinator position, quarterbacks coach Turk Schonert will be interviewing for the position with Jauron this week. The head coach has promised significant change in the offense.

Another candidate on Jauron’s short list is the former offensive coordinator of the Rams… nope not Mike Martz but Greg Olson, the freshly demoted from the offensive coordinator of the 24th ranked offense. Olson worked with Jauron in Chicago as his quarterbacks coach and has also recently worked in Detroit. How about searching for someone that has worked in an offense that isn’t in the bottom 25% of the league?

Bills Start Hot, but Can’t Finish Against Giants

The Buffalo Bills dropped their 8th game of the season on Sunday, losing to the New York Giants by a score of 38-21. The Bills jumped out to a 14-0 lead and were in control of the game early on, but could not stop the Giants rushing attack. Brandon Jacobs and Ahmad Bradshaw racked up a combined 296 yards and 3 touchdowns on the ground.

The Bills close out their season next Sunday when they travel to Philadelphia to take on the Eagles in an afternoon matchup.

Jason Peters Selected to Pro Bowl

Congratulations to Jason Peters of the Buffalo Bills, who has been named a starter at tackle for the AFC squad in this year’s Pro Bowl. Peters has only played 23 games in his career at Left Tackle. Many experts expect Peters to continue to develop and improve his skills, and Bills fans look forward to him anchoring the line for years to come.
